Ay Celia!
It doesn't need to be said how fabulous the Cuban Queen is in her flamenco style dress white turban and caramel skin singing one of her most iconic songs. Critics of the song where indignant about the contradiction of an established singer, considered privileged, stating that life was a carnival. She seemed to them to be a latin American Marie Antoinette -stating that despite the issues of the world there was no reason to cry, life was a carnival. After her passing, the profoundness of her words silenced her critics. Especially since her husband publicly stated that she wrote the song after discovering that she was diagnosed with cancer. A secret she kept until she could keep it no longer.
